Commissioned by Times Square Alliance, we proposed a poster encased in glass that is illuminated by solar powered LEDs alongside the posters, to draw attention to them, in the same way the other signs and ads in Times Sq are illuminated. As NYC Named America's Most Sustainable City, we chose to integrate renewable technology in our frame design. The LED lights are powered by 8 photovoltaic modules at the top of the frame.

This signage frame proposal is an attempt to engage the community by de-mystifying solar – as the glass allows transparency into the inner workings of the photo-voltaic panel, battery, electric board and wires all exposed to the pedestrian’s view. This way, NYC residents can become used to the idea of assimilating solar technology into their everyday lives.
